- As a self proclaimed "pack rat", I enjoy rummaging through surplus, thrift, and antique stores or auctions looking for inspiration for the next sculpture. People have commented that they wouldn't have thought someone that looks like me; a middle aged wife and mother of grown children would be the same person who loves working with drills, grinders, and lathes to transform discarded machine shop scrap metal into sculptures. Through symbolism, my art reflects my personal contemporary views regarding social issues and politics, versus patriotism and religion.

This blog is a great idea, Tammy. The sculpture pieces you have created are a great begning to a conversation. So many thoughts run through peoples minds and they are all so diverse. I am interested to hear what others are thinking when they see what you have done.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite peice I would have to say is (now I dont remember the name) the one that is wreath shaped. The movement is intriguing and exciting. Making found art sculpture is not new or inovative but the materials Tammy uses are very thought provoking. You cant veiw it without introspection.
One thing I think about - especially when I see my favorite peice - is how we are all too often engaged in war. We want connection with those around us but what we show, the part we will allow others to see - is a bristling wall; inviting and intriguing and yet defensive. I find it significant that both Tammy adn Susan are showing together as Susan's work is all about that connection we have with each other adn the world around us.
It promises to be a wonderful event - cant wait!
